I was aboard the USS Curituck 1965-1967. I bounced between V-1 and V-2 divisions. Mostly drove boats and the fantail crane. I just ran across the website today. I have pictures from Cam Rahn Bay, RVN and some other items I would like to add to the site.

I was on board from 64 to decom. As AO1 was shop PO in G division. Would love to hear from the guys in the shop ...Chief Borrer. Gerry Haas, and Richard schulessle r, and many of the guys I can't remember ( gettin old ya know ) W div and the gunners mates . Have good memories of the ole "Tuck " I used to make "rais in jack" down in the Jato magazines. Couldn't smell jack because the jato gave of alcohol fumes. Good stuff after three months on the line. My best to all the old crew ...God bless Ya. Ray Bachynski

Was looking up dome dates on the last cruise of the Currituck. I served aboard as a Qm from Sept,1966 to 31 October, 1967. Y our history shows her being decommissi oned at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She was actually decommissi oned at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, Ca on 31 October, 1967. I don't know if she was subsequent ly towed to PSNS, but I doubt it as I lived in the vicinity and never saw her anchored with the ghost fleet there. She definitely did not steam there as she had been mothballed by us in Vallejo.

I had a freind in the mess hall that would send us steak sandwiches . Where are they now?

My uncle James R Emery served on the USS Currituck as a radioman second class and then as first class from May 12, 1944 till July 1945.He is 86 years of age now and he wrote a short story about his military years, maybe he would let me send it to you as part of the ship history. Thank you for your service.
